I might be pregnant again and I’m petrified

Hi,
I had a missed miscarriage 7 weeks ago. I was 11.5weeks. It was a really difficult time for us and it’s taken a while for me to feel able to talk about it without breaking down.
My Husband was keen to start trying again, I was a little more worried but still wanted to extend our family. So we decided to take the pressure off and just take it as it comes, without protection.
I’m still waiting for my period to arrive following a D&C, I’ve not had any pregnancy symptoms but took a test anyway and after a few minutes a very faint line - only just visible appeared.
I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel following a pregnancy loss but I am petrified- I’m not sure I can go through another miscarriage, I’m scared that if I am pregnant I’m not going to enjoy the pregnancy through fear of it happening again.
Has anyone been through similar? How long shall I leave it before taking another test for a more accurate/clear reading?

Hello @Newgirl21. I'm so sorry about your miscarriage Flowers I'm sure everything you're feeling is completely normal.

I'm not sure if this is a thing or not but - is it possible that a faint positive before having your first period after the procedure could be to do with the recent loss instead of a new pregnancy?

Did you test using first wee today? Hcg levels are highest first thing I think so perhaps retest with first wee tomorrow or later in the week?

I think missed miscarriages are a particular kind of difficult to deal with and don't seem to be widely known about, although I have noticed them discussed more recently which is good. Remember that your chances of having a healthy pregnancy following a MMC are very good. One of my friends had three children following hers Smile

Hopefully this will bump your thread for you.

Thank you @Outfoxedbyrabbits.

Following my miscarriage I was told to take a test two weeks after and then every week after that until I had a negative result. I got a negative four weeks after my miscarriage (three weeks ago)
I think your right I’m going to test again in a few days and hopefully get a clearer result so that I know for sure, thank you for taking the time to respond ☺️

I hope you're doing OK this morning @Newgirl21

There is lots of information and support here www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/ that may help. Take your time in coming to terms with your loss Flowers

Sorry for your loss. I've had three miscarriage the most recent one also 7 weeks ago.

I would call EPAU and explain you situation as this would be classed as a pregnancy of unknown gestation and you would (hopefully) be entitled to to a scan although you may need a GP referral. (you would in my area, but as you have so recently been seen you may be able to have one)

You could try a first response rapid response and if that is positive I would do a clear blue digital with weeks.

Hope everything works out for you OP.

Thank you guys, I think if I am pregnant it’s going to be the waiting around for a scan to confirm things are ok that would be hard. I know I won’t be able to get excited until after the 12 week scan. If I can get a scan for reassurance if could help x
This was my test yesterday

Just to add - A scan won't show anything under 6 weeks. So I would be helpful to work out roughly how many weeks you might be.

Assuming you are 4 weeks now I'd wait until 6 weeks for a scan but I'd call EPAU as they will advise. You could have an HCG blood test.

Yes waiting until 12 weeks would be unbearable Thanks

Thinking of you, @Newgirl21

No need to update if you don't want to, of course, but just thought I'd check in in case you want to chat.

Thank you @Outfoxedbyrabbits.
I’m doing ok thank you, I haven’t taken another test yet. I’m a little scared to tbh- silly I know. My Husbands working away until the weekend so I’m waiting til he can be here. I’ve not had any pregnancy symptoms and no sign that my period is due to arrive so I’m still not sure. I’ve started taking folic acid and avoiding alcohol just encase.
Hope your doing well ☺️
