iPhone advice

First world problems. DS spilled a drink on my phone on Saturday and it is beyond repair. Apple quotes the repair as £526.44 online as it requires an out of warranty replacement

It’s an old iPhone X so I’m not willing to spend that much on a replacement phone as I was intending to upgrade it soon.

But would you just buy one of the current iPhones or wait? If I want until September/October, the new devices will be out which means A. Better features in the new releases or B. Cheaper prices on the current lineup. But I don’t have a functional phone so waiting 2 months is difficult

But a second hand phone from somewhere like Music Magpie that can then be kept as a family spare phone and you can use as a stop gap before buying a new phone?
