House and garden jobs are never ending!

Can anyone relate to the feeling that the house and garden jobs are never ending?

I’ve just realised the weeds on our top terrrace in our garden are quite bad so trying to sort that. We are in the middle of a garden renovation that has taken a long time as the gardens big and very steep so it’s had to be done in stages.

Yesterday I spent time repainting a fence that was quite faded, and clearing vine weeds, ready for me to put plum slate down. I bought some in April to do two raised flower beds. I managed to do repaint the one side and 6 bags of slate down. I’ve realised we are nearly at the end of the summer and o hadn’t finished the other side. Weather has not been that reliable to get it done.

I have lots of wood to clear that has to be done in stages as I need to book a slot at the household recycling centre and also limited to what I can get in the car.

Plus we had a loft conversion 2 years ago. That room now decorated. But 1 st floor hall need repairing and my sons bedroom needs an overhaul. Also waiting for a
Fitted wardrobes on the loft conversion tje be fitted on Sept. I ordered in April.

How does anyone get these kid done with young kids? Mine are7 and nearly 5. They want to get involved and ‘help’. Grin

Yep. Endless.
DH has just done 3 runs to the recycling centre get rid of the old fence panels we’d had to replace last week, there was also lots of garden waste to go too because it was big stuff we had had to trim back to get to the fence panels. I’ve weeded the drive, mowed the lawn & rotated the compost.
The kitchen needs tiling and painting, teens room needs decorating, the hedges need trimming and we have a difficult teen who can’t be bribed, begged or threatened into helping.
We are too old and knackered for all this!
I’d rather be working in the garden than working in the house though, currently planning a load of containers & what to put in them.

I think you finally get it done when your kids go to uni, then you have five years of enjoyment, then you either become absolutely obsessive with show garden, or give up and it reverts to forest.

Is how I’m seeing this going for myself.

Yes. I now know why my parents lived in a flat.

Yes. Suddenly that 1 bed retirement flat with a window box and a view seems the way forward.

Yes. I have a long list of tasks. Sometimes I despair of getting them all done.
