16-17 Saver Card or 16-25 Rail Card??

DS (16) is due to start college in September and will be travelling by train.
Looking at railcards and apart from the age brackets is there any other benefit to buying a "16-17 Saver Card" opposed to a "16-25" card?

Am I right in that the 16-17 one has a bigger discount? Any reason why I wouldn't choose that one?

Thank you!

I'd go for the 16-17 saver card. When I last checked there's time restrictions on the 16-25 card and my DD couldn't have used it for her morning journey to school. That was a couple of years ago though so maybe things have changed?

Can your DS get an academic season ticket? They're sold by the term or by the school year where I am and my DS will get one for his journey to school sixth form. You can use the 16-17 saver card when buying it.

You can also use the 16-17 railcard to get discounts on season tickets, which might be useful if he’s travelling in daily.

That's great. Thanks for the speedy replies!
