Mirena coil weight gain - anyone else?

I had my mirena coil put in about 2 months ago, since that point my weight has steadily crept up. Im about 4lb up now from my normal weight.

It could be a coincidence but I've been a steady weight for years and bounced back quickly after 2 children, I exercise most days a week and since the weight gain have been eating less and less. Every time I get on the scale the number is higher.

The only thing I can think it is is the coil!

If anyone else has experienced this did it resolve itself?

I did, and yes it settled. Mine has been in 13 months now. It’s also given me horrible jawline/neck acne - but it has given me lighter (but longer) periods which is what it was fitted for

That's good to know. I'll hope that day comes soon and that it's all just bloating and water weight.

Mine is also controlling heavy and irregular bleeding which it's working well for so I'm keen to keep it in.

I did put on weight when I had mine fitted, but it coincided with a new job that required a switch from 30 min cycle commute to a 30 min drive and a desk job from manual labour!

I am slightly more inclined to water weight but it seems to have settled. I’m seven months in.

I had the mirena coil fitted in September 2019, I was 9st 8lbs.

2 years on I am now 12st 6lbs, erratic mood swings, head aches, acne.

My diet and exercise routine haven't changed. If anything I do more exercise now! I hired a PT as the massive weight gain has severely knocked my confidence.

I have gone from a size 10/12 to a 14/16. None of my clothes fit me anymore, and my mood is spiraling.

In 2018 I had the copper coil but I seemed to have more frequent periods. But even that sounds brilliant in comparison to what I have now. I have made an appointment with my family planning clinic to have them swapped over :(
