Who has always been a nightmare to buy for!

He has loads of books he hasn't read, he doesn't have any hobbies other than watching football (and he has everything relating to our team). We used to get him 'experiences' but he is being very careful re COVID so doesn't really want to go places so this year has me stumped.

Any ideas pretty please?

I'd get him comestibles - either a few Cook ready meals or some treats to eat or drink.

I'd probably choose foodstuffs as well, unusual tea or fancy coffee, a luxury fruitcake or a gingerbread, bottle of liqueur, interesting jams or pickles, good quality biscuits, all things with a reasonable shelf life.

Would he enjoy it if you took a home made afternoon tea to his place on or around his birthday? I know my Dad would have loved that.

Nice pair of walking shoes? (Bought my dad some Merrells and they - literally - put a spring in his step!) I used to buy my dad premium bonds (well I'd give him the cash and he'd do the rest - he liked checking for prizes every month.) Nice/unusual plant (in a planter) for the garden? (Something like a Japanese maple which will look lovely in the autumn.) Would he like an Audible subscription? (My dad didn't have the concentration to read for long but he liked to listen to stuff while he pottered about/did the dishes.)

A pair of really padded trainers with good grip
A fleecy dressing gown
New clothes - if he's not going out much he might welcome some updates to his wardrobe. New trousers, shirt or jumper.
