Black line on nail? Should I be worried?

Will try to upload image but just spotted black line on thumbnail- have heard this could be a melanoma but surely this would be very rare?

Will try to get GP appointment but I'll be looking at 2-3 week wait minimum.

Hopefully this uploads. It's very thin and not painful at all.

That looks like a splinter haemorrhage. Normally a result of trauma and nothing to worry about. Unless you had other symptoms of concern I wouldn't worry.

Thanks will try to upload better image

I have often had those, you get them from a knock to the nail, not anything worrying.

FavouriteMug · 14/08/2021 14:46

Ok thank you, that's a relief. I generally don't pay any notice of my nails but remembered a previous thread on here where it was a melanoma x

I get these occasionally, apparently one of the signs of psoriasis

Comedycook · 14/08/2021 14:47

I get those on my nails sometimes. They usually disappear. Obviously get it checked but I wouldn't panic

Tempusfudgeit · 14/08/2021 14:49

I get them, psoriasis related!

Dementedswan · 14/08/2021 14:50
