Fragrance oils

Could anyone tell me about them please? I've started making my cleaning sprays to use at home and want to add a nice scent to them. Just wondering whether to use essential oils or fragrance - I have found somewhere that sells them paraben, phthalate, and CMR free, would that make those less toxic than other fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are usually synthetic. I don't think they smell as nice as essential oils, but they are safer and more stable in certain circumstances ie candle making.

To make cleaning sprays I would probably use essential oils, but check that they have no properties that could cause problems. I know some citrus oils aren't good when exposed to sunlight if you use them on your skin.

Thanks @knittingaddict, I was edging towards essential oils, but like the scope of flavours you can get with fragrance oils.
