Staying over a night on way south. 2 teens, me and DH. Where is a nice place to eat - with veggie options, preferably with an outside seating area. Don't mind driving up to 5 miles from city centre.

Recommendations much apreciated

Any carlislians around? or Vegetarians? Or teen parents? Or people who like sitting outside? Or all 4 ??

Hidden River Cafe - about 5 miles outside of Carlisle, has outdoor seating
Print yard, Carlisle city centre, has outdoor seating
In the meantime, Carlisle city centre, normally good veggie options
All have websites so you can look at the menus

Near Boot. Bluebell. Rose and Crown. All out of town, independent and tasty.

We live near Carlisle, so hopefully can help...

Alexandros - great Greek food with an outdoor sitting area. Veggie options available. Centre of Carlisle with lots of disc parking nearby.

Khans at the Waterloo - lovely Indian/Bangladeshi cuisine with some great veggie options. Just off J43 of the M6 heading towards Brampton/Hexham on the A69

Lounge on the Green - great for fine dining, but probably not with teenagers. In the village of Houghton, which is not far from J44 of the M6.

The Sally at Irthington is our local - great food with an outdoor sitting area. Possibly a little too far away as it is around 8 miles from Carlisle, heading towards Brampton.

Thanks so much Carlislians. I looked on Trip Advisor and the greek place came up too & the Hidden River Cafe but always tricky to work out whats good for a family, especially pubs which can be a bit hit and miss. We are going to be there on a Tuesday evening - presuming it will be quite quiet then?

Would I need to book? travel is so much more tricky in Covid times

We phoned Alexandros last weekend and they had no spaces when we tried to book for any of the days we were there, so I would recommend booking!

We ended up eating at Spider and Fly - nice food, not sure about outside space.
