Sertraline Handhold

I’ve posted in mental health but not if many replies.

I’m on day 12 of 50mg of sertraline for anxiety. As expected the anxiety had gotten worse and yesterday I felt a little better but today, it’s awful. My chest and throat feel so tight and my heart feels like it will thump out of my chest. I take 40mg propranolol as and when to help, but when can I expect the sertraline to start having an effect?

Im at the point where I want to give up or reduce the dose (doctor started me on 50mg and didn’t suggest a tapering up)

Thanks in advance for any advice or handholds

It can make you feel worse at first as all SSRIs need time to properly kick in. Your doc probably said two weeks or so? more like six.

Yet, this doesn't mean Sertraline will work for you so if, in a bit of time you feel the same, go back and ask for a different medication x
