A question to those with a career in writing/editing

I am about to start a career in scientific writing. It is a complete career change for me and I am starting to second-guess myself.

To those with a career in writing or editing, do you seem to have a natural talent for writing? Is it something you deliberately cultivate and, if so, how?

I have had to pass several writing tests to get this job and writing is something I enjoy, but I am struggling with the subjectiveness of what constitutes a good writer.

There's an art to it that you will learn. And each publication will have its own style etc. Don't stress it'll be fine and you'll pick it up as you go along as your experience and knowledge deepens.
