The weather is looking fine here (a few miles south east) so if you have a car what about going up to Llandegla one planet mountain bike centre. Some lovely walks and a cafe (or hire bikes).
Or Llyn Brenig/Bala
Or there is an archaeological dig going on up Moel Arthur on the Clwydian Range.

Llandudno ? Amusements on pier and shopping if you are into that.

A short trip over to Conwy to visit Great Britain's smallest house?!

flapjackfairy · 13/08/2021 07:27

Prestatyn has the nova Centre swimming pool or Rhyl has sun centre and Sealife aquarium.

You belters!!
Fantastic suggestions, I think it’s the pier at Llandudno for fun & frolics today. Smile

You can get a bus to Llandudno or to Rhos on Sea if you're not driving or fancy extending the day out. There's also a tourist bus tour from Llandudno that takes in Conwy where you can get off and explore the town and castle.

Chester, Liverpool

Rhyl - indoor water park SC2 there's other things in the same building. Amusements and cinema also in Rhyl.

We visited the smallest church at Rhos yesterday, what an absolutely gorgeous place Rhos is, full of happy families, lovely clean sea, white sand, the best play park ever and crazy golf. DS was in his element!

I'm glad you liked Rhos. It's a bit small to attract the masses, but one of the best towns on that stretch of coast imo. There's a very good chippy there too Grin

The surf Snowdonia centre had indoor climbing, assault course, outdoor surfing etc. I'm sure there would be something for an 8 year old. Conwy and walk round the walls? ( The start was hard to find but it was near the station) you can walk all the way to the harbour, then see the smallest house!

Welsh mountain zoo. Even in the rain it's a lovely day out

Themadcatparade · 13/08/2021 08:09

We went to the Welsh mountain zoo last week when it was raining (I mean, absolutely torrential) and we took a brolly, it was lovely and quiet!
