Employer demanding a negative PCR

Hi,

After some reassurance.
I have started working for a new place in January and due to restrictions have yet to come to the office and have been working from home. I have tested positive for Covid last week and told them and now as we are looking to return to work they want me to take another PCR test before coming to work - not expected to go into the office for another 20 days! I had a look online to order a PCR test and it’s clearly stated there that I shouldn’t be ordering another PCR test within 90 days of tested positive and I do not qualify for one under any categories to order it. Meaning I have to lie to get one. Now I fear that my test will still show I am positive even after 10-15 days of testing positive initially and then I have to do another 10 days of self-isolation. Can anyone offer any advice? I have explained all of this to them many times but they are not accepting it.

Your council Local Outbreak Control team should be able to provide your with the necessary letter confirming that your may continue to test positive for up to 90 days

Do you really want to head into the office? If not say you are not allowed another test yet.

Ok. I will try my council local outbreak control team. Not sure who that is but will research.
Would love to say a no to going back to the office…but it’s not that kind of place.

They clearly don't understand how covid tests work and how you don't test afterwards for a specified time.

Assholes! You aren't supposed to test for 90 days after having covid and there's no need for a negative test

It comes under Environmental Health.

Id send them the link on gov website that shows it’s clearly 90 days before you can re test . You can test well lateral but it may well be positive and you won’t be allowed to take a pcr test so what do they suggest go against government guidance?

CakeandGo · 12/08/2021 22:36

You could ask them to pay for a private test? I wouldn’t take it until right before you are due back though.

dementedpixie · 12/08/2021 22:39

She shouldn't be taking a test though. It may show positive due to fragments of the old virus but OP won't be contagious any longer
