DM is ill, I'm scared

DM was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer last summer. She is currently in hospital and has been for over a week because of fluid around her lungs? She's incredibly cagey about it all, I have very little idea what's going on but I have a really bad feeling. Anyone know what I should expect?

That’s so hard I’m sorry to hear that. Obviously your mum is in control of what she chooses to share with you and if you feel she’s holding back just let her know that she doesn’t need to protect you, that you are there to support her and can do that best if you have all the information.
She may be in denial about her situation and avoiding talking or she may have been given a good prognosis and not want to worry you.

I think all you can do is talk to her, offer to attend appointments with her and let her know that you want to be involved. It’s up to her after that
