Sandwiches and wraps

I’ve got a bring and share lunch coming up and I’ve been allocated sandwiches. I’m thinking of doing a platter of sandwiches and a platter of wraps. I’m thinking a meat, veg and fish option for each.
No allergies, couple of veggies (but one won’t eat sandwiches as no carbs) but no vegans.
The plan so far;
Sandwiches
Egg Salad
Roast beef with horseradish mayo and rocket
Tuna crunch (tuna with sweetcorn, peppers, red onion)

Wraps
Hummus with roasted red peppers and pickled carrot ribbons
Chicken tikka with spinach, mango chutney and mint and cucumber yoghurt dressing)
Prawns with fajita spices with shredded lettuce guacamole and salsa

Opinions please! I’m not into boring sandwiches but hoped to do a selection most people would find something they like in.

While I would eat all of those, I think at lot of people wouldn't - and egg can be smelly!

I think you need at least 1 if not 2 much simpler ones - grated cheese, or ham without mustard etc.

Martianworld · 11/08/2021 14:42

I hate wraps. They always end up being all wrap and no filling.

My fave sandwich is cream cheese, sliced grapes (or apple at a push) and walnuts.

Lukki · 11/08/2021 14:47

I'd do at least one plainer/simpler sandwich, a cheese based one maybe?

Can I come? These sound amazing

VladmirsPoutine · 11/08/2021 14:49

Sounds good to me but as Patricia says chuck in some ham & cheese options.

Is it that you've been allocated the sandwiches? So presumably someone else has been allocated desert i.e. cakes? And all they have to do is buy a few 3 for 2 cakes at Tesco?

Tablow · 11/08/2021 14:51

I'd do a really good ploughman's. Proper extra extra mature cheddar. Good quality ham. Pickle on the side.

namechange30455 · 11/08/2021 14:52

They do sound great but agree you need at least one that's simpler!

Noshowwithoutpunch · 11/08/2021 14:54

Agree you need a cheese in there.
I'm veggie -don't like egg and can't have sulphites either so the hummus would be out for me too.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 11/08/2021 14:55

( pickled carrot)

glampingcamper · 11/08/2021 14:57

I'd do just cheese rather than egg salad.
Make one of the fish ones simple - just tuna mayo or prawn mayo.

glampingcamper · 11/08/2021 14:58

I'd probably leave the pickled carrot out of the hummus one too.

AnnaSW1 · 11/08/2021 15:03

Do a plain cheese one.

TrampolineForMrKite · 11/08/2021 15:04

I agree with the PP who said that wraps are rubbish, but I know some people do like them, so if you’re confident that they’ll be enough of a hit go ahead. I would also agree with everyone saying go for a couple of simpler options, so just cheese, just ham, maybe just tuna. And get rid of the egg, I don’t think many people genuinely like them and they smell grim.

Happy36 · 11/08/2021 15:06

Egg sandwiches are the best.

Your ideas sound delicious, OP.

I prefer sandwiches to wraps.

Lyricallie · 11/08/2021 15:07

I always feel like catered sandwiches at work things etc. have too many things in them. Some ham ones and cheese ones would be simpler and easier. Egg sandwiches and tuna sandwiches smell quiet strong. Horseradish is an acquired taste and roast beef can be a bit dry. I would be a bit iffy with a cold prawn wrap but the other two wraps sound nice.

It does sound like you're giving yourself a lot of work when people would probably appreciate a plain sandwich just the same.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 11/08/2021 15:13

I like wraps, but only if I make them myself. Too little filling and they are all wrap with no taste, too much filling and it falls out the bottom as you eat.

I would do some boring and some interesting as others have suggested. Most people have things that they can't eat or don't like so the more that you pack in multiple ingredients the more likely it is that people won't like something about them.

However if there are lots of other dishes brought by other people then it probably doesn't matter too much if someone doesn't like any of the available sandwiches.

emmathedilemma · 11/08/2021 15:15

Drop the raw onion in the tuna, it's always so overwhelming and leaves you tasting onion all afternoon but the rest sound good.
Roast beef can be chewy if you're not careful and a lot of people don't like horseradish or mustard.
I'd probably go for a safer fairly plain ham or cheese.

mafted · 11/08/2021 15:20

Good variety.
Presumably there will be plenty of other food on offer so I wouldn't change anything else.

Chickychickydodah · 11/08/2021 15:27

Or go into Asda and get one of their sandwich platters for about 8 quid

BillyIsMyBunny · 11/08/2021 15:28

I would swap the egg for cheese & pickle although maybe I’m biased because I’m a veggie who doesn’t like eggs.

Unless anyone is pescatarian I would also get rid of the prawns for a simpler meat or veg option because I think a lot of people (me included) would be a bit unsure about a cold prawn option. Or if you have your heart set on a fajita option you could swap out the prawns for beans to make it veggie perhaps.

Also agree with those who say horseradish can be divisive and roast beef can be a bit chewy, a BLT would probably be more popular and I think some people are likely to appreciate some simpler/ more familiar options.

larkstar · 11/08/2021 15:37

They sound excellent to me - I would have egg. The beef/horseradish/rocket would have been my recommendation - I use the Sainsbury's Taste the Difference horseradish because I don't like really strongly acidic horseradish - YMMV.

burritofan · 11/08/2021 15:38

They all sound delicious! I’d be disappointed by a Plain Jane platter of Just Cheese, Sorry (even worse if it were grated), or Ham And Nothing Else. Picky eaters can pull out the bits they can’t cope with, people with palates can’t add in the missing flavour in a lacklustre sandwich

SpacePug · 11/08/2021 15:42

I'd say more variety but make it simpler.
Cheese (and lickle)
Ham (with chutney or mustard?)
Tuna and sweetcorn mayo

Chicken tikka sounds nice, I'd do that in a wrap rather than a sandwich
Houmous wrap sounds good maybe just with some roasted peppers and spinach

Not sure about a fish option for a wrap, the prawn one is a bit unusual and I don't think many would go for it. Maybe prawn cocktail would be better or avoid fish and have another meat one such and chicken and stuffing

Galassia · 11/08/2021 15:44

Only one veggie option, can you do another?

NoBetterthanSheShouldBe · 11/08/2021 15:44

I think you may be overdoing it, I’d just do sandwiches and forget the wraps. Egg mayonnaise is less smelly and I’d do a cheese salad option too - I.5 rounds per person or 1 round if there’s other substantial plates such as quiche, chicken drumsticks, or similar.
