What should I hide in the maze? Planning for a party

Hi all! DD (14) and friends are going to be doing a maze. Well actually four interlinked mazes. I’m thinking as we will be the only people that we should somehow make it more fun. I’m planning to put a cooler box with drinks in maze 2 or 3, and a treasure chest with things to do that evening at the end of maze 4. What to do for the other two? Racking my brains but not getting too far

Food or sweets in one. Or have you got freezer box you could put ice creams in ?
Some of those cans of water mist spray - in case they are feeling hot?

I'm not quite sure what a maze is (I'm old ! Obviously I know what maze is, but didn't know there were ones you can do four of - are they in fields ?)

Four interlinked mazes?

Maybe hide a piece of paper with the way out clearly shown?

Kinsters · 11/08/2021 12:49

Snacks?

Fancy dress costumes that they have to wear to do the next maze? Scarves to tie feet together so they have to do the next maze as a three legged race?

viques · 11/08/2021 12:54

Clowns?

[sfx evil laughter]

Mardi Gras necklaces from eBay - one colour for each maze so they each end up with four.

Breathmiller · 11/08/2021 13:19

Fancy dress in the first one, even if it's just hats and moustaches.

2nd one, a treasure hunt. So as well as getting through it they have to find and collect certain things. You could print off a picture of 4 things and they have to collect all 4 before they can leave maze 2.

  1. Snacks and drinks.
  1. The treasure chest for later idea.

Yes, it’s a physical maze - a corn maze. Trying to do more outside things and a bit varied - there’s a cluster of birthdays so trying to think a bit out of the box rather than swimming, movies etc.

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions! I was thinking a spool of twine for the maze where you have to retrace the path back out and a riddle in the middle explaining the end is the beginning.

Also intrigued by how this is happening and where? Sounds great fun.

mamakoukla · 11/08/2021 13:26

There’s a local sunflower farm (great for pictures) that has a corn maze and the hourly private booking rate isn’t lethal so I figured get the girls outside moving before coming back home to watch some movies. I’m trying to make it more appealing to 14 year olds by adding in some fun (asked permission to do this). Will do drinks to keep them hydrated but not snacks as doing meal before we leave, and part of the treasure at the end will be individual bags with snacks etc for movies

I love the hats/moustaches idea. Maybe some detective style fancy dress too (pipes/deerstalkers/magnifying glass) and a Polaroid camera so they can do a little photo shoot!

Breathmiller · 11/08/2021 13:31

It sounds so much fun mamakoukla

Enjoy.

mamakoukla · 11/08/2021 13:46

I’m really coming around to a detective themed props/fancy dress and it’s the sort of thing that they’d enjoy.

Thank you @Breathmiller. I hope so too!

A different pin to collect at the end of each so they each have a collection of 4 at the end?

MyAnacondaMight · 11/08/2021 15:10

Lovely idea.

How about a pack of glow sticks? Not so useful in the daytime but could be kept until evening. Neon face paints could be a fun addition.

Ormally · 11/08/2021 16:36

Notes to take a certain combination of photos with best one getting a prize? Such as one that makes a photo of 2 people appear as if one is a lot bigger than another (various ways of doing this); sequence as if throwing something offscreen and the next person catching it in the next photo...

mamakoukla · 11/08/2021 16:39

Thank you all! It’s amazing the responses you get on MN!

Hope the party goes well. Grin

Piñata?

spotcheck · 13/08/2021 07:49

Freddy Krueger could be hiding in the maze?

00100001 · 13/08/2021 07:51

I'm confused.

How are you going to get access to the maze before the girl's enter?

Do you know the layout already?

mamakoukla · 13/08/2021 21:08

Hi @00100001its a private booking and it’s also a sunflower farm with fun props for photos. They will do the sunflowers first and while there, one of the adults will go place items into the maze. We have a map so I’ve marked the route and X marks the spot(s).
