Old women fawning over young men

I was at a family function recently. My mother and her sisters (my aunts) are aging and they are all close in age ranging from late 60s to mid 70s. They all had one thing in common and that was all of them fawned over not only their sons but their nephews too.

'fine strappy young lad'
'fit young lad'
'handsome young fella'
'he is such a good looking handsome fella'.

These were the phrases I heard repeatly throughout the day. 'handsome young good-looking lads'.

There wasn't one good, nice word said about any of the females in attendance like myself and my female cousins. There was nothing bad said about the women in attendance but there was nothing good said about them either compared to the men.

What makes it acceptable for old women to fawn like that over their male relatives? If older uncles spoke like that about the young-ish females in attendance eg
'pretty young lady' and it would be seen as creepy and it would be tolerated.

Got on my nerves big time.

They are enjoying their time out. No harm in it.

My uncles would definitely tell me I looked ‘charming’ or suchlike at that kind of age so I don’t think it’s universal or indeed would necessarily be creepy the other way round.

it absolutely is tolerated when older family members fawn over their younger female relatives. The arm round the waist thing, the comments. Most of us have creepy uncles or creepy grandad stories.

I’m the one on the right.

They sound like they are missing their youth bless them, unsure why no comments on the females though sorry

But what does it really matter, they probably felt they had little in common, and no harm in giving a compliment. The older generation probably remember them as young boys, so it's a surprise to see them all grown uang Young boys and young men receive much fewer compliments in general, you can't dress them up like young girls at parties etc, they are often completely overlooked.

'Old women' so what's AGE got to do with anything, they can admire who and what they want!!

Could be worse. Joe Biden could be your grandad and sniff your children every time you visit.

Nitgel · 11/08/2021 11:56

Old men do it too ! Mostly the girls Grin

We are seeing a lot of it with Tom Daley though aren't we? Older women falling over themselves to say how "cute" and "sweet" he is. I think it's something some women (and not always as old old as the ages you mention) do. It's odd, I have 2 x adult ds and I find it weird.

He’s always at it -
