Advice on using Air B and B

I’m considering booking an Air B and B near Alton Towers in October but I’ve never stayed in one before. Is there anything I should be aware of? The advert is giving me cancellation to 24 hours beforehand but is it that easy to cancel if, say we get COVID or something else happens that we can’t go. The owner seems to be a superhost which sounds decent!

Check the cancellation policy for the particular accommodation. Some have a sliding scale, so if you cancel X days before you get a full refund, Y days before you get a refund less the cost of the first night/minimum stay and/or service charge. I’ve found cancellations to be easy and have been refunded immediately but had to pay the first night because we gave less than 5 days notice.

Check the reviews, always.
