Anyone know anything about the role of physician associate?

DS is interested in training as a physician associate and on paper it looks like it would suit him well. I’ve worked in a clinical hospital role in the late 90s/early 2000s but don’t recall this role so presume it must be quite new. Does anyone have this job or can shed a bit more light on it please?

It is a new role and we need them in PCNs- check in the nhs website for more info. They will be registered with the gmc, so not a doctor- however career progression isn’t great apparently
