Is a place just a place?

My DH thinks all places are the same. I don’t agree. For context I’d like to move in the new few years when our kids have finished education. We currently live in a nice market town in the south east, it’s fairly sought after but I’m bored of living here. We also grew up here and only moved back as one of our children have medical issues and we needed some family support. I would like to live somewhere more interesting with a bit more countryside and coast on our doorstep. Can a place make you miserable?

Of course a place can make you miserable. A place isn't just a place!! There's a reason, for example, given the choice most people would choose to holiday in Santorini than Scunthorpe.

Of course a place can make you miserable! I’ve lived all over the world and liked some places more than others, but the two I would never countenance spending as much as a week in ever again are Dubai and Leicestershire. Other people will find them tolerable or even likeable, but even thinking about them depresses me.
