Driving license waiting

MistySkiesAfterRain · 10/08/2021 17:45

I applied something like end of May or early June. It SAYS they are processing early June, and not to contact them (contact? Like how does one even do that? 😂😂😂) until 10 weeks which will be this Friday.

Mine was not straight forward as they have no record of me, despite me existing on the government Check Your License site.

Anyone else waiting, or just received theirs? CakeGin

I'm passing the time with work, a weekend away planned, and a staycation. I'll also start researching cars and fantasising about all the trips I am going to make.

I'm still waiting for my renewal. Couldn't do it online for some peculiar reason despite having valid passport so had to use snail mail. Cheque not cashed and am now at about week 10. Online chat impossible to get through on. Don't even know if they've received it. Incredibly frustrating as photocard has now run out Angry

Ah I feel your pain @titchy. Let us know when you get it and we can celebrate with you!

Ah - I couldn't do my renewal online either! It kept saying I need a valid passport .... it is bloody valid!!!

So I went to post office and did it - did a change of address at the same time. Got it back just over a week later!

Up to 17 weeks for DHs to be returned on medical grounds. Absolute shitshow.

I just changed the address on mine and they said they couldn't find my passport photo, even though it was renewed the month before online....

Are we supposed to cut and send the license before the new one arrives? I figured I would wait, but perhaps that is why it hasn't been processed?

niki26 · 10/08/2021 18:18

@Lua no - my husband was able to change the address on his online and I cut up the existing licence and popped into an envelope to post to DVLA. Well, I then didn't go past a postbox for a week or so and the updated licence arrived before I'd even posted it!

The post office cut mine and sent it off when they sent the application.

thanks @niki26 !
I'll wait then!

Mustangsallyis · 10/08/2021 19:53

There's a form for key workers to contact DVLA - DH's licence came through within a week of contacting them that way in June

WaterBottle123 · 10/08/2021 22:47

The DVLA are currently on strike...

PheasantsNest · 10/08/2021 23:51

My renewal took 11 weeks. The cheque was cashed after my new licence arrived.

frankie001 · 11/08/2021 07:08

I got a letter from dvlA this week, dated Oct 2020! They are very behind.

PheasantsNest · 11/08/2021 08:32

@frankie001 if it's about your renewal they all have the original date on them not including the Covid extension.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 11/08/2021 11:56

@PheasantsNest

My renewal took 11 weeks. The cheque was cashed after my new licence arrived.
I keep checking to see if mines been cashed, no joy.

I've got a nice walk planned for a couple of weeks time. Trying to stay positive!
