Not wine as they have loads. Not flowers as I suspect others will bring. What else can I take?

Do you mean a dish to contribute? Or a hostess gift?
If a gift, then really wine or chocolate for with coffee after is the standard.

For a dish, I always make a tres leches. Never met anyone who hasn't like it! And since it's a pudding, it can easily go on the table with other puddings for people to choose from.

Last weekend a guest arrived with a bouquet made from outdoor candles. They were on long canes (that stick in the ground) and are scented to dissuade flies and wasps apparently.
This was something he had put together from a local garden centre and I thought it was a great idea.

Yes chocolates maybe a good idea but love the idea of the candles too
Thanks

Definitely cake

Depends on occasion.
If a bigger "do", then offer to bring a pudding / cake / something for the table. That will help out far more than another box of chocs.
If 4 or 6 of you then it won't matter if you take wine / flowers / chocs - they aren't going to be inundated.
