Blessings in disguise

Just pondering life tonight and thinking how my divorce was the best thing that ever happened to me. Closely linked with now exH cheating on me with OW who is now seeing someone else and he's back at the parental home. Maybe him leaving was the best thing rather than the divorce itself but the end result was the same. My dc are the best things that happened to me by design but the marriage break up was the best thing that was out of my control and has turned into a true blessing in disguise. Do you have any events where it's been a case of things happen for a reason/the lord moves in mysterious ways (if you're religious)/shit happens/insert any other phrase along the same lines? If that thing involved you being shit on from a great height did you get revenge or did karma/life do it for you? It's taken nearly a decade for things to even out but it was worth waiting for and I wish I'd have known in my 30s how great my 40s would be man-free as I'd have divorced him sooner never got married.

I had worked as a summer internship between years 2 and 3 of uni and worked my butt off - working more hours than anyone else on the internship. I got denied a full time job at the end of it as I was not a team player...the reason? everyone in the team took turns buying the morning coffee bar me cos i don't drink coffee and thought it redic to have to buy other team members their coffee out of my own pocket. other interns i knew worked half the hours i did got offered the jobs

I struggled to apply for jobs during my third year but managed to land a really good one eventually. After third year ended the other interns were a week away from starting full time jobs with the firm and the firm rescinded their offers due to the 2009 credit crunch. I am still in the same company i started that month today (having moved jobs and gained a few promotions in that time). best thing that ever happened to me.

I found break ups in general are usually for the best in the long run too

Bad uni grades. I would never have met my husband and got the job that I loved for 15 years. Also kept me closer to home and my family, which especially through lockdown has been so valuable. I might not be rich but genuinely think I’m so much happier than the other me would have been.
