My Heatstore shower bowed out in spectacular fashion this morning after nearly sixteen years' service. I don't need anything too extravagant as the shower usually is only used once a day and I'm planning to sell up and move in the next year or so. I'm prepared to spend up to £100, plus the cost of installation.
Thankyou.

I've been looking on Ebay for a rough idea of prices. Triton and Bristan's lower end showers seem quite good value, although I expect a tradesman could buy them for less.

I have a Mira vista, off FB marketplace.

It’ll cost you a fair bit to have it fitted, unless you replace like with like.

Thanks Hen. Mira appear to be at the pricey end of the spectrum so I might well avoid them. Obviously I need to see what the professionals recommend too. The last time I just told the plumber I needed a new shower - I wasn't invited to have a say - and he fitted the Heatstore which all but exploded this morning. It was a good unit and owed me nothing.

I've just had a Triton t80 fitted by a local electrician to replace my old one. 280.00 total for an 8.5kw

WildRosie · 09/08/2021 18:27

Thanks purdy. That's one of the models I'm considering. Your total cost appears steep though; may I ask what the labour cost was please?

I'm not sure of the labour cost, I think the shower itself was about 129.00 as its the version with chrome detailing. My sparky charges 50.00 for the first hr then 25.00 an hr after that. The shower itself is lovely with about 6 spray settings & came with the riser rail etc, very easy to use.

Mine is a cheap one but is amazing, it's a galaxy brand one, it is 4 years old now & so powerful, better than the old triton one that had a booster pump. Cost around £140 it's a 10kw model. Water is always really hot, only takes a second to go from freezing to hot.

Look at Toolstation or any electrical wholesalers & ask whoever fits it if they will do vat free for cash.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 09/08/2021 23:02

I had a Mira fitted to replace my one. It was knackered barely put a trickle over my head and was about as warm as a puddle. Now I can actually wash my hair without the rest of me getting freezing cold cos it actually covers me. Not sure how much it cost though cos I'm in rented property. Just wish I could get my storage heating taken out and central heating put in but I think I'd be pushing my luck on that one

I’ve owned a series of Mira sport showers.

I wouldn’t hesitate to put in another one.

But I think they are probably more expensive than you want to spend.

WildRosie · 10/08/2021 04:49

Thankyou all. I've not heard of Galaxy so that's one to look at. Aqualisa might be worth a punt too. I may even get another Heatstore or Redring, provided they're decent value.

Galaxy showers are made by Dimplex.

Triton fitted today. Thankyou all.
