Ideas for friend‘s 50th, bit stumped

We are a group of old friends, we get together every few years as some are abroad. For our 40ths, we all got to London and did a theatre trip, afternoon tea, museums, things like that.

Now the 50ths are coming up and (ignoring the travel stuff, assuming we can see each other) I am at a loss for nice treats. It’s as if I can’t remember how people used to spoil themselves anymore! We don’t go mad, we stayed somewhere very low budget to be able to pay for other stuff, I just don’t know what to suggest.

For me, I really can’t think of anything I‘ve always wanted to do but never quite got round to. After the past 18 months it all seems a bit frivolous.

At the same time my wider family are starting to ask me about my 50th and what I would like, I just come up with a similar blank mind.

Can anyone remind me of or recommend any possibilities?

Would you be interested in doing an activity like wine tasting or cocktail making together? Maybe bread making or chocolate making? How about an escape room/crystal maze type thing? Learn to paddleboard or surf?

A murder mystery weekend maybe? My son iand his friends do this regularly. They have a 3 course meal and breakfast and an overnight stay and they love it,They sometimes get dressed up in fancy dress depending on the theme and it costs about £99 to £139 for all that,Sometimes just he and his partner go and they still have a ball, The hotel group they use are the Mecure Hotel group and sometimes they do 2 for 1 offers all over the country, Might be worth a look.

Maybe just being together is the gift. Book a lodge or cottage in some pretty part of the country and just spend time together. Sometimes no activities need to be planned you just need to “be”

Sorry, been away.

An escape room or murder mystery event both sound interesting, coupled with a meal that might just work, thanks!
