How do you play Just Dance?

Dd will be 7 in November and has asked for the Just Dance game. I've tried to Google what console it needs but it's incredibly confusing!

Do you need a dance mat with it? Some sort of accessory? I'd like to avoid one of the gaming consoles that you need to connect to the Internet and other players if that's even possible. I'm an absolute dinosaur when it comes to computer games, the last one I played was Alex Kid on the Mega Drive Blush

No you don’t need a dance mat, you hold the controller and follow the moves on the screen.

dementedpixie · 08/08/2021 20:31

Looks like you can get it for the switch, PlayStation or xbox. No dance mat needed

parrotonmyshoulder · 08/08/2021 20:33

To be honest, he might just enjoy copying the moves without the controllers. Search you tube for ‘just dance’ and the videos come up. My class used to love doing it this way.

You will need a console. They all connect to the Internet these days but you can disable her being able to chat.
You can get Just Dance for PS, Switch & xbox

Tablow · 08/08/2021 20:33

The catch with just dance is that to get any decent songs you need to subscribe to it nowadays. I think it's a bit of a rip off as a result since you already paid for the game!

bonbonours · 08/08/2021 20:33

We have it for the Nintendo switch. You hold the controller in your hand and it detects your movements. No mat needed. (in fact you can do it sitting down and still get points lol)

Squeezed · 08/08/2021 20:34

We’ve got an Xbox one S and have a Kinect sensor so we don’t need to hold a controller. We did need to buy an adapter though so the Kinect sensor would work. Really fun game!

Alex the kid was awesome 😂
We have it for the Nintendo switch and as PP says you just use one of the controllers in your hand.
It's been a hit in our house.
The Nintendo switch is one of my favourite consoles we have ever bought.
We bought the 2020 just dance version as we read that the 2021 version had adverts in it.

Nohomemadecandles · 08/08/2021 20:42

Agree Switch is an incredible bit of kit!

BingoBhango · 08/08/2021 20:44

Brilliant, thank you! I'll probably go for the switch then. I hate that everything has to be connected to the Internet and subscribed to these days Sad Bring back Sega and the Super Nintendo I say.

Seriously, try him on YouTube!

Nohomemadecandles · 08/08/2021 21:30

You can cast YouTube to the TV if you don't have the app on your TV.

TheChosenTwo · 08/08/2021 21:33

One of mine has it on their switch and we used to play it on the Wii years ago (haven’t used it in years now, you can probably get a second hand one on eBay etc).
I put the videos on YouTube on for the dc in my class sometimes for a quick movement break - I’m just careful with which ones I choose as some of them are singing about sexy this and that Grin

BingoBhango · 08/08/2021 21:45

@parrotonmyshoulder That's how we have done it up to now! I think one of her friends in school must have the game and she's heard about it that way as she keeps talking about points and scores. Might have to wait until Christmas and make it a joint present for both the dc.
