Random things you cry about

I’ve just been watching the Olympic closing ceremony and the montages on BBC,
and I’m bawling my eyes out. I don’t consider myself a particularly emotional or sentimental person and yet every time someone has won a medal or they’ve pulled up injured and the cameras have zoomed in I’ve started welling up. My dh thinks I’ve lost the plot Grin
Any one else find themselves emotionally over invested in random things?

Seeing a newborn baby for the first time, not just mine, anyones new baby. My eyes well up with tears every time.

We did a tour of the new maternity ward at the hospital where I’m due to give birth. Every time I opened my mouth to ask a question, my voice went all weird and I really struggled not to cry. Confused

It’s a really unexciting hospital ward and this is my third baby, so it’s not an especially overwhelming concept for me. Fuck knows what that was all about!

Whenever there is a musical/performance with a kid in, I choke up. I can't help but imagine the proud parents!

Sweetbabyrays · 08/08/2021 21:43

I was exactly the same as you, that montage got me crying, I’m normally hard faced but I felt all overwhelmed, I don’t even particularly like sport either but think they have done so incredibly well in such difficult circumstances.

StorminaBcup · 08/08/2021 23:07

I think that’s it @Sweetbabyrays, knowing what they’ve had to train through, the uncertainty of the games even going ahead, I’ve really felt for all of the winners and losers. I think these games have really bought out the camaraderie of the competitors too.

I can’t watch one born every minute either without crying - as soon as their handed their babies 😭

Kids singing used to really grate on me until I had my own, so school performances are another one. Especially the end of term ones.

Clearly more of a softie than I thought Grin

Oh that song at the end was really moving.

I cried at the end of the RNLI advert about why they save migrants at sea, they will answer the call, whoever, wherever, every daughter and every son, etc. and then at the end it said "because we are the charity that SAVE LIVES AT SEA".

I also BAWLED, I mean bawled, my eyes out at the whale that died far away from its mummy. I don't know why, I just like I could relate to that feeling of wanting its mummy, and it was far from home, and sad and no living thing should die like that.

IdblowJonSnow · 08/08/2021 23:30

@MistySkiesAfterRain

I've not seen that about the whales but have cried just reading what you've written!

At certain times of the month I can cry at anything. But mostly I'm not a very teary person.

I cried today because an imaginary alligator, who is a much loved member of an imaginary institute from a series of books, has been kidnapped in a fanfic FB post and someone commented that he might be alone in the dark, with no custard creams! Hmm
(If anyone else is a member of VSM, Snappy is missing! )

I choke up when I see a crocodile of nursery children holding hands waiting to cross the road. When the adults step out and stop the traffic for them I bawl my eyes out.

SchrodingersMat · 09/08/2021 10:42

Talent makes me cry. If I see someone do something really brilliantly I well up. Also seeing brides walking down the aisle always makes me emotional.

StorminaBcup · 11/08/2021 19:27

I’ll have look up snappy!

I don’t usually cry at talent but I did get a lump in my throat when the medalists were on the podiums. I usually feel really awkward if someone (not famous) is singing well (as an example)!

I see a walking bus going past my window most days, they look so little holding one another’s hands. It looks so pure!
