Hi, do you mean for Y7? This info is given out on the 1st March. Have you not been told ? Or did you apply late ?

Do you mean off the waiting lists?

Ameliadee · 08/08/2021 15:24

Sorry should of explained better, our daughter got offered a place she never wanted. She was in the continuation list until it closed at the end of July. So we had to put her name again on schools list. We've heard of 1 person getting a place at there preferred school before term starts and wondered if any one else has been successful

It really depends on the area and the school you want. Responses on here probably won't be very helpful as school waiting lists vary enormously. Do you know what number you are on the list? How large is the school? Is it generally very popular? Do you live in an area of high or low transience? All these affect your chances of getting a place.

It is hard to answer as it depends so much on the school and the area.

But I have kids at 2 different secondary schools, and I'm know a bit about their admissions.
Between appeals in May/June and 1st September, I think about 5 kids from the waiting list got in. Then there is typically at least one child who doesn't turn up in September.

Oh yes and where you are on the waiting list.

I know of a couple of times that it had happened, including one this year:

  1. was offered 4th place and by the summer, got 1st place.
  2. moved after they had applied for initial schools and got offered a place at the new school shortly after 'offer day'.

Both cases were Greater London with a high transient population, so there is quite clot of movement.
