Does anyone on here drive an automatic Mini Cooper?

If so, what are your thoughts? Are the gear changes smooth or clunky?

I'm looking for a new automatic car, something small but still robust. My current car is a 1L Citroen C1 which is great for cheap tax and insurance but I feel quite vulnerable in it when hurtling down the motorway. The gear changes are also quite clunky and unpredictable and it's just not a smooth drive.

Just got my second mini this year. I wouldn’t call it a smooth drive exactly.
My first mini was a four door hatch, very zippy and responsive, almost a bit like a go cart.
Now have the Clubman, it’s a bit more sedate but still a hard ride.
Can’t say I can feel the gear changes at all.
Had an A class Mercedes previous (B Class is now the equivalent), also auto, it sound more like what you are after.
The Mercedes was second hand, they lose lots of value where the mini was new and I worked out amazing in term of resale value.

Toyota Yaris...bloody great little car and excellent automatic. I've been the length and breadth of the country in mine and I can't fault it

I test drive a countryman hybrid this week and didn’t notice any clunky gear changes. Can you get a test drive? Worth it and both mini centres I spoke to were great about understanding I wouldn’t be buying the car (I was upfront before taking the test drive)

I feel like I'm trying to decide between a Mini or a Fiesta. My head is saying Fiesta but my heart is saying Mini.

Honestly take both for a test drive ( I did my mini one unaccompanied)

I’ve had a Mini Cooper S convertible and a Countryman. Neither were automatic, but I found them both a very hard ride and not comfortable. Servicing costs were high too.

I do, just got a new one a few weeks ago.
I don't think its clunky at all but the only automatics I have driven are my two Minis.
I love them.
My last one was a special edition Mini Cooper 7.
The current one is a Classic Cooper but I had a few add ons.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/08/2021 16:20

I had both from brand new but they are motability cars so I don't have to take into consideration costs other than petrol.

Second vote for the Yaris - 2021 car of the year and absolutely amazing to drive.

Ilikewinter · 08/08/2021 18:05

Reading with interest, i was considering a mini clubman but dont want a car thats a firm ride.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/08/2021 18:52

I really don't find it firm, I couldn't cope with that either as I have chronic pain.
