I'm a SAHM to two little boys, 4 and 2. The 4 year old starts reception in September.
The first week of the summer holidays we were quite busy because it was the 4 year old's birthday, so with a couple of trips out, visits from family, his party the week was very full.
Since then, I'm just at a bit of a loss thinking of stuff to do. 2 year old doesn't nap and is a good walker, so we can get out and about. We live rurally and have a field with a river and some woods at the bottom, so we explore that often which they really enjoy. We go to all the usual parks, National Trust places etc, sometimes with friends and sometimes on our own. Try to do as many play dates as we can, but often find other people are working so their children are with grandparents, in childcare etc.
What does everyone else do? Will it get easier to fill the time as they get older? They are pretty good at playing together and entertaining themselves, but I just feel a bit lost without our usual routines. Is this normal do you think?
I've booked them in for forest school on Mondays which they love, so that will start the week off. We're not going away this summer, my husband was hoping to have some time off but his business is really busy and he's having staffing issues so that might not happen.
Does anyone else find this? Maybe I need to be a bit more imaginative!
