And will be calorie counting. The extra 6 stone I'm carrying can do one.

Good luck, I admire your gumption in doing this.

I sometimes wonder about a PT but am a little shy and a perfectionist so feel I should get fit before I bother a PT Hmm

Let us know how you get on.

Houseofvelour · 07/08/2021 20:51

You've got this!! 💪🤸‍♀️🏋️‍♀️🏊‍♀️🧘‍♀️

Auntycorruption · 07/08/2021 20:52

Well done you. The best self esteem and body I've had in my adult life was when I worked with a PT twice a week.

@Auntycorruption I can't afford twice a week. Just once a week for me but hopefully this will be enough. I'm planning on going 2 or 3 times a week. I'm excited and scared at the same time but I've made the decision now and I think it's the best decision I have made in a very long time.

Brilliant!

mommybear1 · 07/08/2021 21:17

Whoop whoop 🙌🏻 go @Boomerang99 🥳🥳

Auntycorruption · 07/08/2021 21:30

The PT should help you by writing a programme for your other sessions and then checking on your progress etc

nbee84 · 07/08/2021 21:37

You can do this 💪 Be prepared to be a bit/a lot achey after the first few sessions. Best thing to do to help is a bit of light exercise, gets the blood flowing and loosens up the muscles. A bit walking or maybe a swim.

PurpleDaisies · 07/08/2021 21:40

I had mine once a week and did classes and swum in between. It made a huge difference.

Take before and after photos, and think about measuring as well as weighing.

Really good luck!

Garfunkle · 07/08/2021 21:59

I’d love a personal trainer. I need someone to motivate me. Excuse me asking but how much am I looking at for one session a week? How long would a session be?

Well done you!

Gormless · 07/08/2021 22:10

OP, I did the same as you a few years ago and it was the best investment ever. My PT was able to encourage me, show me how to use equipment correctly, exercise safely, but also how to push myself and set goals. She also got me into HIIT which proved better for fat burning than just chugging away on a treadmill which is probably what I’d have done without her. And she got me lifting weights too! It does help if you hit it off with the person, so if this PT and you don’t gel do persist with another one. Worth every penny. Good luck!

Boomerang99 · 08/08/2021 10:47

I did it!!! I feel amazing and exhilarated. My legs are shaking and my arms are aching but I feel fantastic. My PT is lovely too. We are meeting next week to write up a plan of action.

Brilliant news OP! I’m so pleased!

mommybear1 · 08/08/2021 14:40

Well done @Boomerang99 👏🏻

Toasty280 · 08/08/2021 14:47

@garfunkle East Midlands or is around £30-£35 per hour

Laufeythejust · 08/08/2021 14:56

Well done! I have a PT and it’s the best decision I have ever made. They keep you motivated and it’s amazing how much better you stick at something when someone is holding you accountable! @Garfunkle I’m the northwest and going rate is £30-40 per session.

Garfunkle · 08/08/2021 16:56

@Toasty280
@Laufeythejust

Thank you both. That’s better than I thought ☺️ I’m gonna do it! 💪

Boomerang99 · 09/08/2021 19:29

I am aching beyond anything I ever imagined. I am guessing that the more I exercise, the less I will ache. No pain, no gain right?

OP posts:
Laufeythejust · 09/08/2021 20:22

Haha radox is your friend! Foam roller is also fab for leg and bum pain! It’ll definitely get easier… then they up the weights and it hurts again! It’ll never hurt as much as it does now though so keep going!

TheChosenTwo · 09/08/2021 20:25

Well done OP!
I had one a few years ago for about 5 months before I was a bridesmaid with a strapless dress and wobbly arms Grin
He did a wonderful job but I couldn’t really keep up the cost long term, he was £45 about 5 years ago and I wasn’t actually working at the time so it felt like a lot of money to be spending out of the family account for vanity sake - I didn’t really need to lose weight just tone up and I honestly felt amazing on the day of the wedding.
Enjoy the ache!!

Boomerang99 · 15/08/2021 10:24

Week 2 and feeling great. It was hard but not as bad as last week. Haven't got to grips with calorie counting but will start from today. I'm so proud of myself Smile

OP posts:
nbee84 · 20/08/2021 00:02

Well done, it does get better and less achey! There comes a point where you welcome those doms as it shows you've worked hard Grin
I found my fitness pal useful for calorie counting and to keep an eye on my protein intake.

AdoraBell · 20/08/2021 00:19

Well done Bommerang,

I’ve been using the gym for 6 weeks. PT is really good and it’s really improving my mental health. I find the most important thing is going when I’m verging of making an excuse to cancel. I always feel better once I start on the cross trainer.

However you feel after the first session it will improve and you’ll feel better each time.

Boomerang99 · 21/08/2021 17:13

Week 3 and having a brilliant time. That's not to say it's easy. It's really hard work and I will be aching again tomorrow. I'm doing things I never thought I would and when I want to give up and fall into heap on the floor, my PT us urging me on, telling me how well I'm doing. Thank you all for your comments. They are spurring me on too.
