We're on holiday in the Lakes til Monday and I'm going to visit Booths for some nice stuff to take home. Never been before so any recommendations? We like ALL the food 😁

Cheese counter is good, also I often get relishes like chilli jam there which other supermarkets don't have

AConvivialHost · 07/08/2021 17:32

A butter pie

Saucery · 07/08/2021 17:33

Have a browse along the Cheese Counter.
Lathams cakes, especially the cheesecake if they have any (I have never tasted anything so divine as the lemon cheesecake).

We’ve just come back from Keswick and Booths was one of two supermarkets. It was absolutely heaving and at about 5:30 each day there was a queue outside the shop to get in. And it was incredibly overpriced and under stocked. You’re far better off going to some of the farm shops.

RandomMess · 07/08/2021 17:36

Not necessarily from Booths but dark chocolate tunnocks!!

cookinahurry · 07/08/2021 17:37

White fox cheese

If you are leaving the Lakes via the Kendal side then worth stopping off at Sizergh Barn for nice things to take home. Gins, cheese biscuits, cheese counter again….. They did do marvellous cakes but didn’t have much when I went last week, hopefully they have restocked. They have an indoor cafe and serve at tables outside too now.

We’ve just got back from Windermere, no queues at the Booths there at all. You want Yorkshire butter, all the cheese, and if you like beer take a look at the range, we picked us some unusual ones. Love Booths and wish we were nearer.

Etulosba · 07/08/2021 17:56

I’m old enough to remember Booths from back before they were a supermarket. My mother had an account there and they did home deliveries.

Figmentofimagination · 07/08/2021 17:58

Lathams cakes!!!! Their chocolate fudge cake is amazing.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 07/08/2021 17:59

Lathams cakes. Lakes gin/liqueurs. Cheeses. Any amount of baked goods. Unusual beers. Local coffee eg Farrers of Kendal or Atkinsons of Lancaster.
Their barbecue packs are great.

RandomMess · 07/08/2021 18:04

Absolutely Atkinsons Coffee 👍

MackieMayor · 07/08/2021 18:42

All of the above (😊) plus Yockenthwaite granola and any of the Lottie Shaw's ginger biscuits/parkin/cakes.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 07/08/2021 18:45

They’re duck spring rolls are amazing.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 07/08/2021 18:45

There 🙈

RomComPhooey · 07/08/2021 18:45

The small, individually wrapped local smoked brie from the cheese counter. I wish I’d brought more home. Worth every penny.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 07/08/2021 18:45

Argh their. Bloody brain

RandomMess · 07/08/2021 18:46

I may have to go to Booths cheese counter tomorrow now reading these 🤦🏼‍♀️

Figmentofimagination · 07/08/2021 20:28

Just remembered another thing. If you get there around lunchtime they do an amazing hot beef sandwich on one of the counters! It's amazing. Really not good when I worked across the road from a Booths.

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 07/08/2021 21:32

Butter pies, portuguese custard tarts, stotties.

StillWeRise · 07/08/2021 21:34

Nohomemadecandles · 07/08/2021 21:35

And their lunchtime filled baguettes are lovely usually.

crankysaurus · 07/08/2021 21:36

Sticky toffee pudding Smile

Dancingfairydreams · 07/08/2021 21:49

Square crumpets

RubyGoat · 07/08/2021 21:53

Everything. Last time I went in late summer /early autumn, they had massive quinces. I brought them back a bloody long way on the train & made quince jelly.
