How do you delay giving an answer to a job offer?
I've got 4 final interviews next week. And I'm rubbish at being put on the spot so if offered I'll probably say yes.
I've ranked them in order of preference so I've got numbers 3 and 4 on Monday number 1 on Tuesday and 2 on Wednesday.
What advise can you give to delay my response?
That is if I don't screw it up completely

Ask to see a copy of their employment t&c's before you give them an answer.

Thanks. Will do

is there anything obviously objectively advantageous about any of the later jobs -- higher salary, more hours, better career opportunities? I once cited 'full time vs. part time' as a reason to wait 3 days before I made a decision.

Yes, don't give an answer until you see the contract, or at least the particulars in writing.

I was in a similar position to you, op, and ended up with 3 job offers in one week. I gave it a few days before giving my answer to all of them.

SqueakyPeaks · 07/08/2021 18:56

I would be honest and say you're considering other offers and will be able to get back to them within a few days

Lochnessgiraffe · 07/08/2021 19:20

The salary for all is around 45k. No 3&4 are remote. 1&2 are flexible 2 days in office 3 at home.travel of about 1hr. I think I'd prefer a mix of home and work. I'm not sure about the benefits

Just focus on the interviews for now. If you get more than one offer no one expects an answer immediately so clarify any key points before you decide. Good luck.

Thanks I'm doing interview prep tomorrow

Oh I have just been in this position. I actually accepted a role and then rescinded the acceptance.

Be honest with them, tell them where you are at with others. If they really want you they will offer up and get a contract out quicker.

I had a first interview on Thursday, second at 5pm Friday, contract at 530 on the same day for the role I have accepted.

I take it you aren't with an agency?

Lochnessgiraffe · 07/08/2021 20:28

No not with an agency. All jobs are through LinkedIn.
