Out and about double vs mountain buggy?

Can't decide which to get.
For a 2.5 year old(for long forest walks - I know walking or a buggy board would usually suffice) & newborn. Toddler is quite big and likely baby will be too, are seats on both quite roomy? From what I understand both will be fine off-road?

Also just seen the out n about sport double - won't be using at as a running buggy but potentially better off-road?

Not had a double mountain buggy. But had the single, which was lovely to push. Had a double out n about which was great. The backrest doest seem overly high. But the seats where roomy enough. It was really easy to push.

I had a MB Duet and I really liked it. Not sure I'd take it into a forest but I can't really imagine taking any buggy into a forest and it coping OK.

Thank you both. :) Maybe not the MB buggy if it won't be good in the woods then, they do do a terrain version but unfortunately only available as a single.
It's between the out n about nipper/ nipper sport I guess! Did you take your double out n about into the woods etc @Homemadearmy?

Our out n about has been on sandy beaches, shingle beaches, woodland paths, wild woodland, long grass...all over the place. Absolutely brilliant, and it's tough, you can load it up with your day out things plus some!

Is that the normal out n about or the sport one? Sounds perfect for what we need! :)

I had a single Out n About Nipper 360. It was awesome, went on beaches, forests, grassy fields, churned up fields, hilly, rocky bridleways, snow… my tall ds could fit in it until he was 4. I also ran with it, on pavements.

I know you asked about the double, and I can’t answer that. But the single was shamazing.

Maybe also look at the Baby Jogger Summit?

I had a single mountain terrain and it was amazing. Took it everywhere. Managed very bumpy terrain, did get a puncture just the once but local bike shop replaced inner tube for us and it was fine. We had the carry cot and then then normal buggy seat. Got an extra thick cozy toes and ds2 was snug as anything (Ds now 14 Grin).

Homemadearmy · 09/08/2021 17:14

I had the older fixed wheel version and the 360 and they were both fab to push over all terrain. The fabrics were really hard wearing too.

bloodywhitecat · 09/08/2021 17:18

I have a MB duet and a 360 Out n About single, if I had had the Out n About before the MB I would've bought a double Out n About too, the suspension on it is so much better than the MB and I think it easier to lift into the car as it locks easily whereas the MB often doesn't close properly when folded.

AllTheBabies1 · 09/08/2021 18:14

Thank you for all your advice, I will get the out n about! The sport/ fixed wheel one might be a bit unnecessary by sounds of it so I'll probably just get the standard one. Do I need the newborn insert, will a sheepskin liner (that I already have!) work instead?

OP posts:
BikeRunSki · 09/08/2021 18:16

Sheepskin might well work. I used mine with a P&T Cocoon that I already had.

bloodywhitecat · 09/08/2021 18:55

If you are using it off road a lot I would consider putting anti-puncture tape or slime in the tyres.

BikeRunSki · 09/08/2021 18:57

Yes! Yes! Yes!

DIanaRiggFan · 09/08/2021 19:02

I have the out and about nipper double and it's great - only criticism I have is that the hoods don't come down far enough in my view so when it's really hot and sunny the kids don't like it. Other than that, it's great. I have a 3 year old and a 10 month old in it together.

LaPufalina · 09/08/2021 20:30

I have the mountain buggy duet and an out and about single running buggy, would highly recommend both Smile

Likeasorethumb · 09/08/2021 21:02

We had a double mountain buggy and definitely abused it by taking it on rocks when rockpooling with older child, sand dunes, forest paths etc. If I was crazy enough to have any more kids I would buy another MB, single or double.
