What is with all this rain!

It reminds me of the washout summer of 2007!

I'm in the SE and used to it being really dry...but it feels like we've had heavy showers most days :(

Most of the plants in my garden have barely grown in the last month because of all the rain and cool temperatures.

As I see it, in this brave new world of ecosystem collapse, we get a choice between droughts and wildfires or endless rain and floods. I think I prefer the rain myself.

We now have a summer monsoon season in the UK, it seems.

I should be grateful to have a steady water supply I guess...

I just miss the days of 24 degrees and sun. That's ideal summer weather to me and I feel like we've only had about three days of that so far.

Yep. Rather be here than in Greece, Turkey, Italy has fires at the moment, Australia in the summer, California. Always thought I'd rather floods than fires.

We have been having lovely weather here on the east coast of Scotland. Mostly warm and sunny. The heavy rain which was forecast has not materialised. I couldn't be happier!

From what my friends in other parts of the UK have been telling me it is only the south east that has been miserable all summer.

myotherusernameistaken · 07/08/2021 12:31

I live in SW France and the weather this summer has been relentlessy awful.

Lots and lots of rain - many events cancelled.

A disastrous season for the farmers too.

This week has been particularly grey and wet and I feel very sorry for the families who are here on their holidays as we would normally expect wall to wall sunshine and 30 degrees this time of year.

I had to resort to socks and a fleece the other night.

It does look like it will be back to "normal" from tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, more of these to expect with climate change. It's everywhere, my native country is experiencing hottest summer and record breaking rain fall in some areas too.

Seiheiki · 07/08/2021 21:27

Also in the SE, feeling rather Autumnal here this week.

In the SW feels like a blink and you’ll miss it summer! Put extra blankets on DC’s and my bed this evening, kids actually needed socks indoors today as their feet were cold, I’m under a blanket on the sofa currently and packed all the fans away today (hoping this may jinx it to bring the sun back Hmm)

It’s August

It always pisses it down in August

Not this much, it doesn't. This is climate change. Overall, temperatures rise, and the air holds far more water than it used to, then when it cools, hey presto, it all comes out.

Ohhh, that's interesting. Is there an idiots guide to that, that I can watch?
