What to do in London today

We're in central London. It's raining, DP is going to the football later and I haven't booked anything. Any suggestions as to what I can do?

V&A museum - it's free but you need to book which you can do immediately for this morning. Other museums may be similar, not sure.

I love the big Waterstone's on Piccadilly and could happily spend a couple of hours there

Oh I don't know, it's pissing down. As we live here, we don't do attractions. Restaurant? Hamleys?

tate modern

Hmm - I was wondering about the National Gallery as I've been to the V&A lots of times and don't fancy Tate Modern today, can't explain why. I think I'll have to buy a plastic poncho and look like a total tourist. Annoyingly I'm really near Hyde Park, but it's not exactly the weather for it! Might use the hotel gym in a bit. I was thinking of maybe something different/quirky to do.

If you're near Hyde Park can you have tea at the Serpentine and visit the art gallery there, walk through the park to Portobello Road market, see the Diana statue in Kensinfton Gardens then walk back through to Knightsbridge.

I’d sack off tourist stuff and go to the cinema. Curzon Soho is nice, or the Prince Charles is a good old central London cinema.

Museums, art galleries, afternoon tea?

Barbican centre and conservatory.
