Apple Watch and tracking steps…. What if my daughter is carrying my phone?

I’ve got a new Apple Watch. Today we took our dog out for an hour, I wore my watch of course but my daughter carried my phone. Will that have confused the step counter?

No it shouldn’t do. When I go walks I carry my phone with earphones in to listen to music and my step count is fine. Go on the exercise bit on your watch and select outdoor walk and it will track it all

I think that the step function and some other similar things don't need the phone to work anyway so shouldn't make a difference, all the other stuff should work as long as your daughter was in Bluetooth range

So the phone won’t be tracking my daughters steps? (While the watch tracks mine?)

We’ve been out for a few more walks since and I’m pretty certain it’s concentrating on my watch’s steps. But I’m curious.

Your phone will track the steps on its own health app but that’s separate to your watch app.
The watch app only registers what’s recorded on your watch.

This ^

It doesn’t combine the two.
