Laptop for secondary school - help please

My parents are kindly buying DD a laptop as she is starting secondary school. They want me to tell them what spec to get but I have no idea. Can anyone advise? The only think I know is that I want it to run windows.

Just check the school does not have or have plans to have a school scheme. I bought mine one but now also have to get a Chromebook through the school. Reasonable cost at a tenner a month but now we have two

I agree check whether the school first.

In the last 2 years my DC school has implemented Chromebooks which they have on various payment schemes. Also they have the school software on them. And they do not allow them to use any other laptops/Chromebooks to be used in school.
