If the light is broken, is the fridge broken?

The light wasn’t working when I opened the fridge this morning, everything is still cold. I can’t hear any noises coming from the fridge/freezer but sometimes it doesn’t make the humming sound, it’s just silent so I’m not sure if no noise is a sign it’s broken or not?

No. Buy a new bulb or free up the little switch (usually in the side of the fridge where the door hinges).

BashfulClam · 06/08/2021 16:07

Not always, the bulbs can go easily. Is the freezer stuff defrosting?

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/08/2021 16:07

It might just be the bulb.

No, the light on mine has been broken for weeks but the fridge is still working fine

HirplesWithHaggis · 06/08/2021 16:09

The light in mine went years ago, it still works. Though the freezer needs a defrost this weekend...

If it's still cold you probably just need a new fridge light bulb next time you're in Tesco/Sainsbury's/Aldi/Asda etc etc
Or Amazon etc

anniegun · 06/08/2021 16:40

Most likely a bulb which is no big deal. If the fridge has stopped working check the plug fuse as well as the fuse in the circuit board- it might have tripped

Probably just the bulb but keep an eye on it, currently my fridge isn't making any noise either but I know it will do soon enough. If the fridge has stopped working it will stay cold for a while especially if you haven't been opening the door much.

Thank you everyone. It is humming now and everything still frozen/cold so will get a new bulb.

Definitely the bulb. I currently have no light in mine, but contents are still cold

You can get fridge thermometers which might put your mind at rest.
