Tell me about podcasts

I realise I'm very late to this party, but I keep hearing about interesting sounding podcasts, like radios articles that go into a but more depth?

I have no idea how to listen to them.

Is it something you download to your phone and listen with earphones? Do you use data if out and about or download it before you go? Where do I find them?

I listen to them through Spotify. You download the Spotify app on to whatever device you like and then it has a search bar, which you use to find the podcast you want. If you tap it, it will then list all its episodes with a little synopsis. If I'm home alone, I just play it through my phone or otherwise, I'll use headphones.

You can also ask Alexa to play a specific podcast for you but I prefer being able to see a list of all the episodes first.

They're good for in the car too.

I love a good podcast!

My favourites are: they walk among us (uk true crime).

Shagged married annoyed (very funny! Chris and Rosie Ramsay).

The secret world of slimming clubs (hilarious and warm and just great if you've started every diet under the sun!).

Murder mile is good too!

Do you have an iPhone or android phone? I use an app called overcast on my iPhone. I subscribe to ones I like and the automatically download when I am on WiFi.

What kind of tv shows or movies do you like? Maybe we can recommend some based on your likes.

I love podcasts, I listen on my iPhone through the podcast app which was already on my phone when I got it, I listen in the gym and in the car on the way to and from work and sometimes if I'm awake during the night

Placemarking for ideas. I really enjoy the odd TED radio hour but need more ideas and the world of podcasts is too big and scary!

I downloaded Spotify. It's £10 a month I think. Excellent for both music and podcasts.
You can type in a subject or a person's name into the search bar and suggestions come up.
I liked Aibu (a mumsnet one, very funny)
There is a podcast for every mood! I listen while I'm driving mainly. I download them at home, and just use Bluetooth on car music system.

I listen to them via the free podcast app on my iPhone.

Spotify. Or amazon music. Or the podcast app that is standard on an iphone. Or for a free option i listen to a lot on bbc sounds app. You can listen on the move or download in advance on all of them. Headphones optional. Loads of amazing content-fun and educational informative. Dive in and try some things out!

I use podbean but you can use Spotify (only need the free version for podcasts) or any other podcast app.

Download.

Then you can search for specific podcasts or you can search for people/topics you're interested in.

You can then stream or download to listen offline (good for the tube).

You can listen through headphones (when out and about) or just out loud like the radio.

I love a podcast.
