Weirdo wanted to buy my used unwashed jeans after seeing my baby seat ad on Gumtree

I have a couple of listings on Gumtree currently, a baby floor seat and a toy. I've sold stuff via Gumtree before with no problem. This time I have just had a guy phone me and say he wanted to buy both items but also was I a mum and did I have any used unwashed leggings or jeans as he was willing to pay £800 for them to smell them!

I said no thanks and put the phone down. I was shocked! I'm glad I hadn't agreed the sale and given out my address for collection before he asked that. Anyone else had weird requests from buyers when selling on Gumtree / eBay etc? Would this have shocked you or am I just too sheltered?! Wondering now if I should have accepted £800 for a pair of Primark leggings

He isn’t really going to give you £800 for your jeans. There are more effective channels for obtaining items like that than phoning random gumtree adverts. He’s just making nuisance phone calls to see what reaction he can get. Utter creep.

Yeah that's what I thought, no way is he really going to pay that sort of money. Just a time waster.

Even £80 would be a decent profit on a pair of primark leggings 🤣
