Daughter and new job quick question

I don't really know where to put this and it will not let me create a new thread in parenting so I just thought I would ak here if that is alright?

My daughter is 17 and recently got a new summer job which she loves.

My question is, she still has not been paid yet. So the first week she got her payslip but no wages went in to the bank. Her manager said that it is because the payroll dept ( in UK, we are in Ireland) did not have her BIC and IBAN. But she cleary filled in these details on her form when she started.
So anyway, they said she would be paid this week and recitfied her payslip this week to show two weeks pay but she came home again today and still no wages in her account. They said it was because of the bank holiday that the wages are a day late. But it wasn't a bank holiday in the UK was it?. They did get their pay slip a day late.so maybe she will get paid tomorrow?
Also, she has an AIB savings account not a current account. Is that ok to get your wages paid in to? Or would that be the issue?
She is so passive though and won't ask her manager again as she has asked him already. I am fuming. She works from 7.30 in the morning until 3.30 in the afternoon so has been working now 3 weeks without being paid. I an tempted to ring her manager myself but she would kill me. I told her that she might as ell write volunterring all summer obn her CV as she sure as hell seems to be. I am absolutely raging that they could exploit a 17 year old like that.

I would give it another day to see of the money goes in before calling them.

My DD 18 started a summer job waited over a month to be paid. The company pay monthly and she was not set up on payroll, so was paid over five weeks this month.

It would not enter my head to have called on her behalf to chase up. They need to start developing these skills themselves. My DD is also working full time.

RubyFakeLips · 05/08/2021 16:23

Do they definitely pay weekly?

Do not contact on her behalf. Your DD needs to resolve on her own.

I don't think its particularly exploitative, most jobs you work for some time before getting paid. It sounds as if this is a large company so not a scam.

Thanks for the replies.

I prob would not have called but was just tempted to :)

You are probably right, it might be just late, fingers crossed she gets paid tomorrow. I was prob over reacting when I said exploit. I tend to react quite quickly and then calm down later.
I was more annoyed with her for not asking though. You can tell she doesn't need the money LOL. When I was that age, I would be waiting to get paid so I could give my mam half the money.

My daughter accidently gave her RBS saving account details to her employer and the bank rejected the payments as they will not accept salary payments to a savings account it needs to be a current account. I don't know if AIB have the same rules.

dementedpixie · 05/08/2021 16:52

She'd probably be better getting a current account set up
It was bank holiday in Scotland on Monday
