Can I take a big tent to a festival?

We are going to a festival over the bank holiday weekend. First one since I was a teenager.
There are 4 of us going. I have a 4 man tent, but it’s massive! I’ve looked up the festivals pre pitched tents and ours is probably comparable to the 6 man tent you rent off them (although it’s a different shape). Is it really bad form to take this with us?

Also any recommendations for festival essentials I need to take? We are 2 families (2 adults, 2 kids)

Not at all, take whatever size you need. Just gotta get there early enough to find a space to pitch it.

Check the festival website to see if they have a stated maximum tent size.

Agree, absolutely no issue with that size tent, you'll probably see loads of people with similar size tents, even for smaller groups! Definitely get there early, though, space can be at a real premium at some festivals.

In terms of essentials, only one thing jumps to mind right now, even though I'm a bit of a veteran festival goer (Glastonbury several times and loads of smaller ones): packs of tissues instead of loo roll - so easy to pop in a bad or pocket as you're wandering round, and easier to deal with if you have to hover!

The tent is honestly huge However it sounds like it’s not going to be the only one.

No-one will bat an eyelid at the big tents. Just remember you've got to carry it from the car park to where you're camped.
