Is there a shortage of coffee in the shops?

I've been trying to buy some ground coffee and coffee beans for a couple of weeks now. I've found it almost impossible to get decaff beans, and generally the shelves have been quite empty. I thought it was just bad luck and the small-ish shops I'd been to hadn't been restocked.

I did a big online shop to arrive today and ordered a shedload of coffee, decaf and normal, ground and beans. Almost all of it is just unavailable. One pack has been substituted. This is from a huge supermarket.

Is it still just bad luck? I know there was chat a few weeks ago about various food shortages but I didn't pay much attention.

I've been having similar trouble with Sainsbury's for over a year now. Each month I order eight bags of ground decaf coffee & each month I get an apologetic email the morning of delivery saying 'we're sorry, but your coffee is unavailable'. It's only decaf coffee, not the regular stuff & it's in abundance in my local Sainsbury's, so who knows what's going on? 🤷‍♀️

Its Sainsbury's coming tonight! A massive store in the next town that usually has great stock.

Earlier in the week it was a few different places I'd tried - a small Sainsbury's, an Asda and a Tesco.

There was no ground decaf in the local shops so I ordered from Grumpy Mule. They also sell beans I believe.

I've just placed an order with Kingdom coffee, not bought from them before but they had fair trade decaf beans in stock. I might just switch to ordering in bulk online if the shops are going to have ongoing issues!

Yes.

A few peppers channels on youtube have been talking about this for a while. This guy spoke about it two weeks ago. Brazil has been having problems with their crops.

Not just coffee. My local Tesco and Coop are both regularly under stocked. Not sure if it's down to pandemic panic buying or shortages due to Brexit.

Hmm, might stock up on some beans then! We go through a LOT
