Organised mum method/ team TOMM app - when do you do the jobs?

Just that really...I bought the app as something needs to change in terms of my housework "regime" and people really seem to swear by it. I like the idea, but unless I'm going to be doing them at 1am I can't see how to fit it in!
A normal day for me would be getting up, going to work, maybe some form of exercise before work. Home 5ish, cooking, taking kids to clubs etc, possibly an exercise activity (3x a week max), dog walk...if I get time to sit down it's normally by about 9:30pm and I often have a bit of work to do then for the next day. The thought of tackling all those jobs then is exhausting! Obviously I do the basics, laundry etc but the extra ones seem a lot! Any tips for being more organised would be really appreciated!

No I'm the same. I think the best idea in theory is what she calls the 'power hour' - i.e. you get up 1 hour early, do 30 mins workout, then 30 mins housework. Suffice to say neither has ever happened for me.

I'd get up early to work out but no way in hell would I lose sleep to clean.

I've not seen the app but can you split the tasks up, so say do one before going to work, one when you get home and the rest later? Once you've got everything under control it's probably going to be quicker to get everything done.

15 mins before work and 15 minutes after? Try to delegate some to other family members. I work full time and follow TOMM but have to do a bit of catch up on the weekend.

BingBongToTheMoon · 05/08/2021 13:53

I do it at breakfast time.

ExpressDelivery · 05/08/2021 13:55

I do 15 mins before getting in the shower in the mornings and 15 mins as soon as I walk through the door after work. If I sit down first, it's game over Grin

I've looked at TOMM quite a few times but honestly sod that. I think it's worth remembering she started from a point of needing to do 'less' housework! The everyday tasks suggested are the stuff of life eg empty the dishwasher type things but then also vacuum and clean the loos aren't they, plus something else on top?! There is just absolutely no chance of that happening here. What I have taken from it though is to have a weird / extra jobs list and try to do 1 or 2 a week. They might only be 1 min jobs. And do a load of washing every day, wash, dry, away in drawers. That's helped me.

Sounds like you need her other book and app, the organised time technique.

If you genuinely have no time, you're an over achiever and you need to cut down something that you do to make time to clean, or delegate or pay someone.

Thank you all! I didn't know there was another app @BarbaraofSeville thank you , I will take a look at that!
I do little bits before and after work, but that covers the "basic" tasks, dishes, laundry etc. Today is kitchen day and looking at the list on the app I reckon it's an hours worth of work, maybe 45 mins. Maybe I am just unrealistic about how long it actually takes to achieve a clean house!

You're not supposed to do it all every week though. You do 30 mins and leave the rest for next week.
