Who wants to take a guess on when my mum will remember it’s my birthday?

Lighthearted but in a sad kind of way.

My mother, notoriously useless in her role varies on her ability to remember it’s my birthday…so I’m running a light hearted sweepstake on what time she will send her happy birthday text message to me. Last year was 7.30pm, the year before was around 2pm.

As birthday girl I’ll get first guess. I’m going for 3.10pm.

Happy birthday.... glad you're able to laugh at it but it is shit when people who are supposed to care don't! I'll go for 5:30pm.

My dad has absolutely no idea how old I am. It's a running joke that my DH forgets my dob. He usually knocks a couple of years off so I don't mind!

Happy Birthday OP! My DS is 2 today. Maybe we could compare notes to see how long it takes his paternal grandad to remember it's his birthday!

I am still waiting for him to remember our older DS turned 5 and he's 10 now! Hmm

That must be horrible if she does it a lot, but in her defense, I recently forgot a dear friend's birthday until about 3pm. Not because I forgot when his birthday was but because, being off workfkr a few weeks, I hadn't realised what the date was. I think if you don't work, it must be hard to keep track of the date.

Happy Birthday. I'll go with an optimistic 11am for you.

DMum obsessively remembers every date and takes great pride in it. This year we got a text from her at 09.08 wishing us Happy Anniversary, DH and I had both forgotten (not entirely, we had plans for dinner but neither of us said 'Happy Anniversary' inthe morning). MIL has trouble remembering the year, DH mentioned he was turning 50 this year and she said 'Are you?' Grin, I don't think she'll give him a present. But she is more spontaneously loving than DM, DM struggles with showing empathy at times. I think there's more important things than remembering dates.

My ex partner reminded my mother one year she was annoyed by this and posted me a card in the post the following year Grin

To be honest this wouldn't bother me as long as they texted by the end of the day. One year I even forgot it was my own birthday until I got in from work at 6 Blush

I wouldn't be bothered/upset by anyone including my mother wishing me a happy birthday in the evening. Any time that day is still your birthday 🎂

Tbh I usually end up calling my mum on my birthday and she'll say happy birthday as soon as she answers the phone. Doesn't do text or anything. However she always makes sure my card arrives on time.

I have had separate arguments with my mother over both how old my own child was, and also which date in the month was their birthday. Funnily enough I won on both counts but she held out for hours and then acted like she had done me a favour Hmm
