Uber for my kids to use?

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 04/08/2021 15:30

I want to add my teenage ds to my Uber account so he could potentially get a cab if needed. However the family profile setting is now unavailable and apparently Uber won't now take unaccompanied minors.

Any alternatives that you've used? We're in London

TIA

Try a reputable taxi company, one with an office local to you and see if they can help

How about a female cab company and ask if they are dbs checked

My teen DS (16) has his own account with my card details

How old is he? Addison Lee allow them to travel unaccompanied from the age of 13.

He's 15 but the problem with minicabs is that they can take 30-40 minutes, whereas Uber are max 5 minutes round my way.

Has anyone experienced an Uber driver refusing to take a 15 y/o? He's a mature 15 y/o but he definitely looks 15 not 16

I don't see how they would refuse him if he says he is 16, they can hardly ask for ID can they! I would say a minor is under 13 for stuff like that. How about doing a test run to the shops etc before you send him somewhere he needs to get to?

Great idea @MissCruellaDeVil thanks!
