Arts cafe or shears yard are fab

MamaNewtNewt · 04/08/2021 08:16

I think Arts is closed now.

Not upmarket (at all) but Manjit's Kitchen on Kirkstall Road has amazing Indian vegetarian food and it's really reasonably priced.

The Reliance is nice and I love Pinche Pinche, a Mexican restaurant in Chapel Allerton.

Warmduscher · 04/08/2021 08:21

Whereabouts in Leeds and what sort of food?

We’ve just discovered an amazing vegan place in Kirkstall but while the food is delicious it’s definitely not fancy!

SunshineThelma · 04/08/2021 08:28

If you want seriously upmarket, Home is the absolute tits. The Owl in Kirkgate Market is their slightly sister restaurant and a bit more accessible (easier to book and lower price) and their food is just as amazing.
I'll second the suggestion of The Reliance - it's always good for tasty, seasonal dishes and feels a bit fancier than most.
For quirky and a bit more cheap and cheerful, House of Fu on the Headrow serves delicious ramen, they're super friendly and the whole place is bright and inviting.

SunshineThelma · 04/08/2021 08:28

Slightly sister? No idea how that snuck in...

AuntieMarys · 04/08/2021 09:28

Yes to the Reliance!
Sous le Nez under Quebecs hotel

Hemingwaycat · 04/08/2021 10:21

Bundobust.

Ooh, place marking with this as vegetarian DDs are visiting Leeds next weekend ahead of choosing Uni. Smile

I like the restaurant Bar and Grill for something stylish and a bit upmarket. Used to love brasserie 44 but not sure it’s open any more.

Manjit also has a stall in the street food section of Leeds Market. There's also more street food vans in the Trinity Kitchen section of the Trinity Centre. Bundobust is also completely vegetarian.

If you're out on Kirkstall Road, there's also a new vegan cafe restaurant and and Vish and Chips, which is an all vegetarian fish and chip style takeaway - most 'standard' fish and chip shops in West Yorkshire fry in beef dripping as standard so you have to go out of your way to get vegetarian chip shop chips as most don't do them.

Fazendas, not upmarket but is a very nice restaurant, it's a Brazilian rodizio bar and grill.
Different cuts of meat is served at your table on skewers, you have a disc on the table, turn it to red for no more meat and green if you want more.
They have a massive self service bar in the centre containing cold cuts, cheeses, salads, rice, bread.
It's a fantastic restaurant, really worth a visit if you love meat

BarbaraofSeville ooh thank you, will pass all that on to DD. Incidentally, since becoming vegetarian, beef dripping chips are probably the only thing I really miss. I’ll never forget my last lot, legendary fish and chips on a trip to the Black Country museum - I still dream about them sometimes Grin
