Entertaining teens for afternoon KX area vx Milton Keynes?

Bringing my two teens to London this week.
We were meeting a friend & spending the afternoon in the KX area before traveling to Milton Keynes for overnight and Bletchley next day.
Friend was going to chum us as I have mobility problems so more confident with them in tow.

Friend has let us down. So, now I could do either KX or straight to MK.
Any suggestions? I thought a walking tour of KX might be a good way to get some exercise after our long trip into London but I can't seem to see any that don't inc a bit of the dodgy history of KX (teens have ASD so don't particularly want to discuss this with them on a walking tour).

Or I guess we could go straight to M Keynes (from Euston?) and do something there: but what, when I can't walk far?

I still need to do the trip as we've spent the money on tickets etc.

From kings x it's a short walk to the Wellcome Collection, Regents Park, Marylebone, Bloomsbury, British Museum. Does any of that appeal?

OneEpisode · 03/08/2021 19:40

Wellcome includes some quite gory medical history if that appeals?

TheSpottedZebra · 03/08/2021 19:41

What do they like doing? Why Bletchley - Bletchley Park ?

Dozer · 03/08/2021 19:42

Would still do kings cross. You could just wander yourselves near the main sights, eg those mentioned by a PP.

Or go for lunch somewhere a walk away.

There’s a fair bit of retail and chain places to eat in MK/Bletchley, but London is more exciting!

The Coal Drops yard behind KX is a great piece of civic planning, there is a screen usually by the canal in summer, fountains, a great market by Waitrose, fancy shops, events

Yes Bletchley park on Friday.

A retro games arcade has just opened in MK.

You could get a robot delivery of a takeaway of groceries/snacks ?

TheSpottedZebra · 03/08/2021 21:39

retro games

MsRinky · 04/08/2021 21:29

Shame the new National Fim and Sci-Fi Museum attached to the Retro game place isn't open yet, but you could go to robotazia.co.uk for lunch. Or MK Museum has a surprisingly fascinating telephone section!

Roundlampshade · 04/08/2021 21:40

Fabulous thread. I am an hour from MK with a bored teenage DS!

52andblue · 04/08/2021 22:47

@MsRinky - robotazia looks AMAZING.
Sadly it's fully booked but another time :)

The retro arcade is good! Just next to all the shops do also the xscape. Which has bowling, cinema and trampoline park.

MsRinky · 05/08/2021 21:51

My young godsons visited me in MK recently, and now despite living in an idyllic spot next to the Cornish coast with their very own woodland, now constantly mither their parents to come back to robot-land for their holidays :)

52andblue · 09/08/2021 13:32

Well we got back at midnight last night.
Robotazia seemed closed when we looked in, but all else good.
A very different place to where we live (Scottish Borders) though!
