Brave woman putting this piece of scum away.

I hope it leads to a lot more investigations and cases.

I read that this morning - what an extraordinary case to have successfully have prosecuted. Those women are very brave.

Yahtze · 03/08/2021 17:42

Wonderfully brave woman. Perhaps it will make horrendous men think twice.

HollowTalk · 03/08/2021 17:48

I've just read about that case. What a brave woman. How hard it must have been for her to have discovered her own father raped her mother, and then for her to be adopted and find that such a struggle, too. Her mother's relationship with her doesn't sound good. I felt so much for her. I wish he'd been put away long ago though.

She's amazing.

Another child abuse victim failed totally by the authorities (her mum).

'The victim initially did not tell anyone she was pregnant, but later told her parents and social services who the father was and that he had raped her.

She said it was "brushed under the carpet by the adults" and she had blamed herself for many years.

Social services records from the time named Bennett as the father, recorded their ages and the allegation of rape.

The woman's daughter requested her adoption records when she turned 18, and traced her birth mother.'

Fucking sick of report after report of adults supposed to protect, turning a blind eye and sometimes facilitating.

It's obscene.

NiceGerbil · 03/08/2021 18:03

Just to reiterate

Social services records from the time named Bennett as the father, recorded their ages and the allegation of rape.

Fuck them.

VanGoghsDog · 03/08/2021 18:10

That's incredible. What brave women.

2Hot2Handle · 03/08/2021 18:27

Incredibly brave of both women and good to see articles about rape that end with convictions. However, I was shocked that he only got 11 years for it, and there’s the chance he may not even serve that long.

MonkeyPuddle · 03/08/2021 18:28

Incredibly brave women. Utterly, utterly betrayed by the services there to protect them.

Clymene · 03/08/2021 19:16

What that article doesn't say is that the Bennett's victim was taken into care after she was raped as her family disowned her. And then her baby was put up for adoption.

What an extraordinarily brave woman her daughter is. I hope they both can move on now justice has finally been served.

SerendipityJane · 03/08/2021 19:19

I hope they both can move on now justice has finally been served.

I hope there are a lot of rapists who have suddenly gotten a squeaky bum.

Alleged rape? Alleged! She was 13! Barely out of primary school.

gordongrumpy · 03/08/2021 19:53

Oh wow, what a woman!

So very brave, she is so much more than how she was conceived, she must have ovaries of steel. Well done that strong woman.

senoritarita · 03/08/2021 21:14

Amazing women. Women. Well done to them!
